Subject: Research on Open University- Posted July 18, 2009 10:26 am

Hi, I'm doing a paper on OU and I have a couple of questions if someone can answer. I want to know how many people does the OU employ (I need to know how many people OU gives employment to) and also, what grant is given by the government to Open University and how much money the university makes from its courses. I also need stats on OU website. I know this is hard to find - if someone can point me to someone (a professor maybe) who can help me, would be great. Thanks

I was wondering if there is Phd degree through distance learning, currently placed in Athens/Greece, in the area of business administration. Please advise cost as well.

Thanks

Answer by voluntary user(s)

a Phd will depend on your circumstances. I believe they are only available to students who can be resident in Milton Keynes in England. Visit www.open.ac.uk and choose the research option at the top right of the page for more information.

I am currently living in Pakistan and hold a British passport. Can I pursue a diploma in teaching online??? What is the procedure and will I get any financial help because of y citizenship?

Answer by voluntary user(s)

Being resident in India may limit the courses available to you. If you are in India under a BFPO address or working in an Embassy, you would be entitled to study probably any course. If you are resident there due to your own choice then there is a limit on what you can study as Pakistan is outside the OU's agreed study areas. You would only be eligible for financial support if you are contributing to the UK economy (i.e. working for a British company and paying UK income tax). If your not, there is an increased fee for the courses.

I was student no 01696227 Y158 TMA01 in 2007 how can I access my results from this course
please help

Answer by voluntary user(s)

You need to access your "Student Home". It will have the same credentials as while you were studying. If you don't have the credentials, you can reset your password providing you have access to the email account you used when you were studying.

hi ,
i'm studying "computing with business" in OU Kuwait branch , and wondering if i can do a master degree in OU UK and how much that will coast.
best regards
thx

Answer by voluntary user(s)

You may be able to, visit www.open.ac.uk/study and choose the postgraduate courses. All the courses are listed and by going into the individual courses, the price is listed. Not all courses are available from Kuwait. At the bottom of every module page is the list of the countries where that course is available to study.

I called by phone and only got vague details about the length of an English degree course and was told you can only do 60 points in the first year. Can you do more if you don't work full-time? Thanks

Answer by voluntary user(s)

You can do 120 points a year which is around 32 hours a week study (around the same as a full time student). I believe many OU students who approach 120 points a year don't pass due to the large workload.

Why can't I get a price for a home learning course without first giving all my personal ID information just to get a quote?

Answer by voluntary user(s)

Just click on 'Study At The OU' and click on 'A-Z of Courses' and you will see all the courses available and how much each one costs to study. You do not have to enter any personal information.
