I am a fully trained and certificated marine engineer with ten years experience an HND in marine engineering, SVQ level 3 marine engineering, I also have a professional CoC from the Maritime and Coast guard agency. I’m Looking to further my academic qualification to degree level through the Open University and would like some direction. I’m interested in a mechanical degree. What is the best route to find out the cost and lengths of courses?

Answer by voluntary user(s)

The best route would be to check the website, although they only offer a degree in Engineering and not Mechanics. Go to www.open.ac.uk and go to the box 'what can I study' to find the prospectus. If you need guidance on what courses you need for a specific degree, I could draft you up a study plan.

Vladan Hruska

Dear Madam / Sir,

I was trained to become a nurse in The Czech Republic between September 2001- June 2006. I left the Czech Republic in August 2006 as I came to UK, therefore I did not manage to obtain a registration number.
At the moment I am employed as a nursing assistant by NHS Leeds teaching Hospital and I would like to have an English qualification as a nurse. Could you please inform me about undergraduate courses or any other courses that I could complete at your University? And would my qualification from The Czech Republic be recognised (to make my studies at your university shorter)?

I am looking forward for your reply.

Yours faithfully,

Vladan Hruska

I am looking to study a HND / HNC in Construction equivalent. I have looked through your prospectus and I am not sure which route to take? Self study / part time is the only way I can do this due to work commitments therefore not being able to commit to day release to complete the HND/HNC at a local college.

is it possible to have a distance-studing course on buiness studies at your university for an international student with an Alevel certificate&

Answer by voluntary user(s)

Yes, the Open University does offer its Business Studies degree internationally to most countries. However, it's quite expensive studying outside of the UK. The University of London External programme will be cheaper (but the reason it will be cheaper is that there is far less tutor support) and is available in more countries.

information on how to gain an HNC or HND in building managment

Answer by voluntary user(s)

Not at the Open University I'm afraid. But your local college or someone nearby should offer it. Where do you live?
