First of all thanks for reading this question! I'm interested in taking the MSc in Medical Physics, but I'm not too sure about the OU's programme recognition with the IPEM (recognition body for medical physics in the US), as well as recognition of the education in the US. In other words, with this degree, are there opportunities to work as a professional Medical Physicist in clinical settings that may require registration with a regulatory body? Many thanks!

1) I'd like to do T189 (digital photography) next year after I've completed DD101, will I be given a course grant if I'm still on the qualifying benefits even though I'll be receiving a course grant for DD101? I'd like to buy a new digital camera for the course..

2) When will I get offered the PC grant for DD101? Will it be after the course has started or before? Do I get the money before I buy the PC or do I have to buy the PC and they pay me back?

TIA.

Thank you for taking my questions. I live in United States, and teach mathematics full time as a professional (earned BA, and two MA degrees), and I am looking into several distance learning programs for PhD in Education. I saw in the propectus that OU offers part time PhD study in Math Education. Here's my question: how feasible is for me to enroll in OU's PhD program, by means of distance education, if I can manage to conduct research in United States? Would OU allow communications and submission of drafts of dissertation through email in entirely? Would they adopt the traditional European model with PhD programs are purely research based, or would they require coursework? If indeed feasible by means of distance education, may I ask if other people had gone through similar path through OU, what were their experience? Positive? Negative? Thank you for taking my question.

Chris

At the moment I am employed as a nursing assistant by NHS Leeds teaching Hospital and I would like to have an English qualification as a nurse. Could you please inform me about undergraduate courses or any other courses that I could complete at your University? And would my qualification from The Czech Republic be recognised (to make my studies at your university shorter)?

I am looking forward for your reply.

Yours faithfully,

Every prospective learner has a customised query according to his/her qualification, education and needs. The Open University maintains a very informative site, with almost all minute details, answers to most general questions. Despite all that, many present students or admission seekers are not able to find information because they need an expert to understand their requirements and reply personally.

OpenUniversityUK.co.uk aims to assist general public and students of Open University starting December the 13th, 2007.
